The Smart Light Sydney Festival aims to educate and engage audiences on the possibilities offered by low-energy, smart lighting design and products through a number of innovative and exciting light installations and events.
The timing of the festival will coincide with the phase out of inefficient incandescent light bulbs in Australia, as directed by the Federal Government. It will also link with the 2009 International Celebration of Astronomy, focusing on the benefits of darker skies through reduced light pollution and photon wastage.
The Smart Light Sydney Festival will encompass a range of accessible and interactive events for both members of the public and the international design community.
The festival will transform the city into a unique living canvas of music and light with the Opera House, the Rocks and Circular Quay as its focus.
