Avoca Homestead is a landmark in the area, having 'lived' in three centuries. Built in the 1800s it moved through the 1900s and is now opening its doors to the 21st Century. Your hosts welcome you to historic Avoca Homestead overlooking the Darling River, as seen on 'Getaway'. Nature's gifts - stars, sunshine, water, flora and fauna - are here for your enjoyment. Large rooms and high ceilings are characteristic of the period and wood fires burn brightly during winter. The wide verandahs provide a view across lawns sloping down to the river. Extensive gardens surround the homestead, as well as original out-buildings, a gardener's cottage and an adjoining fruit and vegetable garden. A mod-grass tennis court lies beyond a long hedge of old large oleander trees. Avoca Homestead is the ideal place to stay to get away from the "rat race" and "recharge the batteries". Day visitors are also welcome and a conducted tour with morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea is available. Imagine the excitement among the staff, workers and children whenever a riverboat called to deliver goods or load its barges with bails of wool! Take a glimpse of outback history while it lasts
