The Old Katherine Railway Precinct possesses historical, social and aesthetic characteristics demonstrating a way of life that no longer exists in the Northern Territory. The main structures within the precinct were built between 1924 and 1926. The railway served the interests of Vesteys Meatworks during their operation in Darwin and was a major focus for transport during World War II. Take the Pioneer Path from the station to the High Level Railway Bridge over the Katherine River, wander through this historic arena and learn about the railways rise and fall.
