One of the world's great rivers, the mighty Murray, dominates this region. It carves its way past steep sandstone cliffs, giant red gums, wetlands and vast tracts of Mallee country. It is an ideal destination for a day trip or getaway. But there's more to the Murraylands than the river. Other attractions in the region include wildlife sanctuaries, pioneer villages and amusement parks.
The gateway town of Murray Bridge is an easy one-hour drive from Adelaide along the South-eastern Freeway. It is also possible to reach the Murraylands from the Adelaide Hills, the Barossa Valley via Sedan; the Riverland; the Fleurieu Peninsula or the Limestone Coast. River Murray paddlesteamers once plied their trade along the river. Now holidaymakers are their only cargo.
As well as a paddlesteamer cruise there are many other ways to enjoy the Murray:

-Drop a fishing line - yabbies, cod, callop and redfin are all there for the taking
