Due to ongoing growth in popularity and attendance numbers, Melbourne s beautiful Royal Exhibition Building at Carlton Gardens, Melbourne, will provide the magnificent new setting for the 2009 Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC), February 26 March 1, 2009. With a larger venue boasting more space for quilts, classes and retailers, AQC will celebrate quilting and its fifth birthday in true style in the World Heritage listed architectural icon.
As the nation s largest quilt-dedicated event, there is plenty to do and see. AQC will provide an Expo featuring fabulous shopping opportunities, informative seminars and an inspiring quilt show.
The AQC Quilt Show has become known as a showcase of quilts of the highest standard from Australia and around the world. Many collections are exclusive or specially compiled for AQC, while others have never been shown in Australia before.
Take a quilting tour and see the Best of the Best quilts from all the state guild shows around Australia. With Fantasy set as the theme, the first AQC AP&Q Challenge should provide a fascinating insight into what quilters dream of.
In addition to the quilt show, visitors to the Expo will have the opportunity to get hands-on in Make & Take workshops; and buy new fabrics, books and all the tools to make their quilting projects easier from the best patchwork retailers from around the country.
Social functions and lectures are all a part of the quilting celebration that is AQC.
Don t miss the fifth AQC where Australasian quilters meet.
