A permit from the town's Tourist Bureau is required to enter the trail. The Norseman Visitor Centre location can be seen on the map displayed. You can set out for the gemstone leases, twelve kilometres north of Norseman, to collect unusual rocks and gemstones. Many of the ancient rocks and stones in the area are beautifully patterned and coloured. The most common are Moss Opalite, Moss Agate, Banded Ironstone and Gypsum Crystals, found in salt lakes. Black Jasper with Opalite intrusions and common opal also found in the area.
