The Leschenault Estuary is a water lovers paradise in the states southwest. Take a boat out on the water to enjoy a day of fishing for local whiting and Silver Bream. Alternatively, stay close to the shore and try an activity the whole family will enjoy, crabbing for Blue Manna Crabs. Sail on the calm waters or try your luck at windsurfing. Whatever your preference there is something for everyone at Leschenault Estuary.
Cook your catch on the barbecues while sitting down to watch the famous West Australian sunset over the water. Enjoy the myriad of birdlife, especially prolific at dusk and dawn.
Located only two hours south of Perth, this is a day trip the whole family will enjoy. If you plan on staying on in the area, there are a variety of other excellent attractions on offer including the town of Australind, which was one of the earliest settlements in Western Australia and boasts many heritage buildings. Leschenault Discovery Centre and the Peninsula Nature Reserve are also worth including in your itinerary.
